CUSTOMER SPARK #3 - THE TINIEST THINGS
Sometimes the smallest requests can make a big difference. Consider a safety pin. A tiny piece of bent metal. Really just a paper clip with an attitude. They're small and insignificant...unless you need one.
One of our guests needed a safety pin for a quick repair to the hem of her pant leg. Is a fallen hem the end of the world? No, but it can really bug the crap out of you. We keep safety pins (and pain relievers, stain sticks, band aids, cell phone chargers, and even tampons) on hand for those rare occasions when somebody needs one. We haven't had to find the safety pins for a long, long time, maybe a year or more. But we knew where they were, found them right away, and presented the guest with her choice of several different sizes. It was fun to watch her "wardrobe malfunction" frustration just melt away...all because of something as simple a safety pin.
Why this is our favorite spark of the day:
Customer service sparks don't have to be grand to be appreciated. This spark originated years ago when we purchased the little box of safety pins, but finally came to a head (yes, that's meant to be clever) today. It validated that there is huge value in thinking proactively about the tiniest things.
