A real, unspoilt village with 3 main streets right on the Slovakian border. The moody Ipoly river serves as pleasure in summertime, but can also cause some trouble during spring when it overflows and floods the lower part of the village. Ipolytarnóc was already mentioned in the 1300‘s, because of it’s adventurous history, it was occupied by the Turks, disturbed by floods and fires and now it is threatened by the modern world. Most of the local farmers, who used to live out of the land are moving away to cities for a hope of a better life. The village only has 400 inhabitants at the moment.
